Over 18 only - Within the loosely termed genre that is hardcore, there are “intense” live bands, and then there are bands that put their own mental and physical health at serious risk on stage every night to the point where they find themselves frequently having to say “I think we might have to finish our set early sorry because our singer smashed just his own face in with a microphone”. Bastions most certainly fall into the latter category. Having just released a debut album which is as bleak as you’d expect from a band hailing from Anglesey, one of the world’s least tropical islands, they’ve received some resounding (not to mention well deserved) praise from journalists and fans alike, having been described as “a gritty and urgent beast” by Rock Sound, and as “distressingly sexy” by some girl on her blog once.
